FITP and other bits.
Fiesta In The Park has been and gone this year. New location this time with it being held at Northants Racecourse instead of Wicksteed Park in Kettering. Big turn out as usual, facilities were a bit lacking too with there being about and hour queue for the handful of food outlets. It would be nice if this was held at Wicksteed again but I think they've had enough of car clubs with the gradual moval of the show into the far back field over the years and the problems caused getting into the park with the traffic.
It wasn't a bad day apart from the rain. It's been a miserable week here, such a contrast between the lovely sunny weather we've had the past few weeks. I was dolled up in my ski jacket for most of the day trying to keep warm! It seems like Summer is getting later and later every year as it was the same with FITP last year too.
I was with the STowners Club this time round. There were massives of ST Mondeos, Focii and Fiestas on our stand. I think there was some kind of cock up with the Club next to us and they ended up in our space by mistake! But with a bit of shuffling we got everyone on stand, and it looked pretty good too. Being the last person to get on stand I was at the front! I was also well chuffed that looking around the show I was the only ST200 Mondeo Estate in the whole place. Saw a few people take specific photos of the car as well as some guy walking all around it videoing it! I'm Googling every moment I get to find photos of it lol. I did find one....

MPG is looking OK. I've lent the car to Jamie for the past week and a bit for work and even with the stop start it's still sitting high 20s.
So far since getting the car (baring the very first fill of £20 to just it home) it's been sitting like so...
An update on the exhaust. We got a few quotes from people. Many were around the £220 mark for a cat back system. We went to Ford to get an idea of the cost and they wanted £280 plus £90 an hour labour. We were stressing to the other places that it was for the ST200 estate, not just a normal Mondeo, but I don't think they grasped that. One place said to bring it down for a look which we did. They said that cosmetically it was a bit poor but it wasn't blowing so not to bother replacing it. However, they did cut off all the skin of rust that was underneath the car on the back boxes (which we assumed was causing the rattling noise) but if anything it's worst than whenit went in to them. So, I think it's new exhaust time regardless. I would really ideally like a stainless steel one but in standard spec to not have to worry about the insurance but it's proving a little difficult to find a place that doesn't just do chav exhausts. We are going to undersill the car too so with any luck the car shouldn't rust away any time soon!
We also serviced the car a week or so back. New oil filter (almost the size of my head!), new oil, new spark plugs, and an air filter. However, even though we went by the guide in Halfords the filter we picked up was for the later spec V6 engines, including some of the ST200's, so we ended up getting a K&N panel filter from Ebay. For the sake of £40ish it can just be washed out each service without having to buy a paper one for £12 a pop everytime.
Anyhoo, thats about it for now. Oh, also found out that Noble do a twin turbo set up on their cars and they use the same V6 engine. Wish I'd never heard that. I'm a bit parcial to turbo charged cars, but my wallet isn't!
